About BRI
Greetings
Thank you sincerely for visiting the website of the Research Affairs and Biomedical Research Institute at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH).
Research at SNUH begins with patients and clinical practice. Challenges encountered in healthcare settings become questions for new research, which in turn lead to better diagnosis and treatment through basic and translational research, clinical trials, medical technology development, and data-driven research. The SNUH Research Affairs is strengthening its research support system and collaborative foundation so that this continuum of research can form a virtuous cycle without interruption.
In July 2025, SNUH reorganized and expanded its research organization into the Research Affairs to respond more proactively to the rapidly changing biomedical research environment and the future of healthcare. This marks a new beginning: reinforcing the clinical and translational research capabilities SNUH has built over the years while broadening the scope and potential of its research into future fields, including convergence medicine and healthcare artificial intelligence.
The SNUH Research Affairs is building a new medical research ecosystem by organically connecting the expertise and research capabilities of its affiliated organizations: the Biomedical Research Institute, the Institute of Convergence Medicine and Technology, and the Healthcare AI Research Institute.
The Biomedical Research Institute provides a stable environment for conducting clinical and translational research.
The Institute of Convergence Medicine with Innovative Technology supports the research and implementation of future healthcare technologies—including innovative medical devices, full-cycle medical device development, and advanced cell and gene therapies—through convergence with advanced ICT.
The Healthcare AI Research Institute advances healthcare AI research, data-platform development, Korean healthcare AI solutions, and professional workforce development based on SNUH's healthcare data and research infrastructure.
Going forward, the SNUH Research Affairs will fulfill its mission as Korea's national central hospital by drawing on world-class research capabilities to shape the future of medicine and contribute to patient care and improved public health.
We appreciate your continued interest and support. Thank you.
