Professor Seung-Yup Ku is a physician-scientist specializing in reproductive medicine, female reproductive biology, and regenerative medicine, with a strong focus on translational research aimed at improving reproductive health and developing innovative therapies for infertility and gynecologic diseases.
His research encompasses the biology of human reproduction, including infertility, embryology, stem cell biology, cell differentiation, and exosome-based therapeutics. He is actively engaged in the development of regenerative medicine and cell therapy strategies, supported by cell banking technologies and non-human primate models to facilitate the translation of laboratory discoveries into clinical applications.
A major area of his research is fertility preservation, particularly for patients at risk of losing reproductive function due to disease or medical treatment. His work also addresses women's health across the lifespan, including menopause management, healthy aging, osteoporosis, and hormone therapy.
Clinically, Professor Ku's interests include assisted reproductive technology (ART), particularly in vitro fertilization (IVF), as well as the diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic disorders such as endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), uterine anomalies, menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, and dysmenorrhea. His clinical expertise also extends to hysteroscopy, non-surgical treatment of gynecologic tumors, HPV vaccination, and adolescent gynecology.
By integrating basic science, translational research, and clinical practice, Professor Ku aims to advance precision reproductive medicine and develop next-generation regenerative therapies that improve fertility, reproductive function, and women's health.
