Brief Summary
I am a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in breast reconstruction following breast cancer treatment and in lymphedema. I conduct clinical research aimed at improving the functional and aesthetic outcomes of breast reconstruction, so that patients can restore a full and complete life after surgery. I am also deeply engaged in research on lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic reconstruction to prevent and treat breast cancer-related lymphedema.
In parallel, I pursue translational research based on adipose tissue. Using adipose-derived stem cells, exosomes, acellular adipose matrix, and organoids, I aim to apply the principles of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering to the clinic and to develop cell therapies that restore damaged tissue. In particular, I pursue convergence research that organically integrates the three domains of breast reconstruction, lymphedema, and adipose tissue regeneration, addressing unmet clinical needs that span from tissue regeneration to anti-aging.
Furthermore, with a strong interest in basic science and industry-academia collaboration, I am always actively seeking joint research with investigators and companies across diverse fields. My research goal is to build a virtuous cycle of translational medicine: drawing on the questions that arise in clinical practice to inform basic research, and returning those findings to patient care.
