About
Overview
We conduct microbiological monitoring for the quality control of laboratory animals.
The Microbiology Laboratory of the Department of Research and Experiment performs microbial identification for laboratory animals at the Yeongeon Campus and affiliated animal research facilities, as well as regular microbiological monitoring of laboratory animals. It rapidly identifies microorganisms using the MALDI-TOF-based VITEK MS Prime instrument, and uses the VITEK 2 compact to perform antibiotic susceptibility testing and to test laboratory animals for infection with various viral and bacterial immunoserological kits.
We test for Helicobacter spp., Pneumocystis carinii, Pasteurella pneumotropica, Sendai virus, Mouse hepatitis virus, and others by PCR. We also perform a Mycoplasma screening test to check for Mycoplasma contamination in cell lines and culture media during various cell culture experiments.
