Usage Guide
For microbiological monitoring of laboratory animals, we perform culture testing, viral serology testing, and PCR testing. Please call the person in charge one week before submitting a request, then either inoculate the specimen directly onto culture media (BAP, Mac) or submit it using a transport medium; bacterial identification may take about one week. Viral serology testing is performed by ELISA and IFA methods. Separate the serum carefully before submitting the specimen, and if there is a delay, store it at -70℃ before submission. About 5 µl of specimen is required per item. For Pneumocystis carinii and Pneumocystis murina PCR testing, cut the animal's lung tissue into roughly 5 mm squares, place it in a sterile tube, and submit it. For Helicobacter hepaticus, Helicobacter bilis, and Helicobacter typhlonius PCR testing, place about 1–2 pieces of the animal's feces in a sterile tube and submit them.
The Mycoplasma screening test is performed by PCR; place approximately 1,000–10,000 cells in a sterile tube and submit the request directly.
For other details, consult the person in charge when preparing your samples. The request form is completed at the Microbiology Laboratory together with the samples, the result sheet is collected later at the Microbiology Laboratory, and the fee is charged on the following month's consolidated invoice.
Analysis Service Request Procedure
Check the laboratory animal specimens and test items you wish to have tested on the request form and submit it. Because the specimen differs for each test item, we proceed after prior consultation.
Pre-test Consultation
- The laboratory staff and the requester consult one week before the request
Complete the Microbiological Monitoring Request Form
- Check and review each animal specimen and test item
Researcher Prepares and Submits the Specimen
- Prepare specimens suitable for the request
Specimen Analysis
- Specimen analysis
Receive Analysis Results
- Collect the analysis results at the Microbiology Laboratory
Analysis Fee Billing and Payment (Following Month)
- The researcher pays after receiving the invoice
